The true meaning of wealth
71
True wealth means something different for everyone
What do you think about when you think of the word wealth? If you are like most people then chances are that you think and believe that wealth means being able to afford a large home, two cars, and two computers and to afford the best medical care. With this kind of attitude and belief system, you have chosen to believe what the standard definition of wealth is. That is a part of wealth. However, there are people who have lots of money but they lead very miserable lives and they are depressed most of the time. That is not true wealth.
And of course, there are also people in this world that are so poor that they cannot afford to eat or they cannot afford to have shoes to put on their feet. That is not wealth either. True wealth and prosperity actually means whatever you think that it means. Some people will be satisfied with earning a salary of $15 an hour and they are fine with that lifestyle. And then there are others in this world that feels that they need to make $100,000 a year in order to be satisfied. It depends on what you want from life.
Also, if you can afford the basic necessities of life such as being able to pay your rent, eat enough food every day and have a place to sleep then you are taken care of. Everyone in this world needs to be able to feed themselves properly, have clothes to put on their bodies and they must also have an adequate type of shelter so that they can sleep comfortably at night. If any one of these things is missing, then life will be challenging.
You cannot live for very long if you cannot properly feed yourself. If you don’t have clothes to put on you, then you will not survive. If you don’t have a place to sleep every night, then life will be especially hard.
Wealth is a mindset just as poverty is a mindset. If you regularly think and believe that you are poor then you will attract more of that to you. If you think and believe that you are wealthy then you are wealthy. It doesn’t matter what another person thinks about true wealth. Your opinion matters more than what another person can say to you. This is your life and you have to determine what true wealth means to you. If you can survive on a lower salary and you are comfortable with that kind of income then that is fine. If you think that you need to be earning a higher salary then that is fine also. The only thing that matters in a situation such as this is what your beliefs about wealth are. Prosperity and affluence can only take a person so far. As it has been mentioned previously, there are too many people that earn lots of money every year but the other aspects of their lives are lacking. These people can never be happy no matter how much money they earn every year.
And then there are many others that earn significantly less money every year and they are extremely happy and they love their lives. True wealth means different things to different people. Try to determine what true wealth means and then come up with ways to make that lifestyle a reality. This is your life and it is yours to live and enjoy.

Good hub! It took me a while to realize what a sunrise or a hug from a child is really worth. Can't hug a bank account and can't put a price on your last breath. Albert Einstien wrote, "Not everything that can be counted counts and not everything that counts can be counted." It is the things that can't be counted that bring you true wealth. Enjoy!
