Barack Obama is running out of time to do something about the economy

As many of you know, the United States is still experiencing job losses every month. On average, we are still losing over 400,000 jobs per month. That may be less job losses than what was occurring during the final two years of the George W. Bush presidency but that still is not good enough for the United States of America. A country that loses over 400,000 jobs a month is not a country that is prospering. We cannot even be losing 1,000 jobs per month. Even 1,000 job losses per month is 1,000 losses too many. It is time for our President Barack Obama to seriously do something about our job situation. He promised to bring change to Washington and he seems to have brought change that has made our country’s economy worse. A huge amount of money was spent on making sure the banks stayed in good shape and although many banks have already failed, the middle and poorer classes continue to live lives that are not good enough for them to live comfortably. Also, it is estimated that 20% of the nation’s children go to bed at night feeling hungry. Why are our children left to starve while corporations are still bringing in record profits and the rich seem to be getting richer while the poor are slowly getting poorer? And the United States is claimed to be the world’s wealthiest nation for what? No country deserves to treat its children in this manner.

Our children will be the adults of the future and they need the proper nourishment in order to grow. Greed and the free market capitalist system in the United States are to blame for the growing gap between the rich and the poor. The United States has gone from being the world’s largest creditor nation to the world’s largest debtor nation. Incomes in America have been declining for the last 30 years beginning with the Ronald Reagan years. Ronald Reagan increased taxes for the wealthiest of people in order to try and balance the budget but that move landed America in a recession. It is now 2011 and the same thing has happened again because George W. Bush always reduced taxes for the richest people of the United States. The United States has made poor economic and financial decisions for years and the mistakes of those people in Congress are affecting this nation in a terrible way.

He did not create the recession or depression the country is now facing but it is not enough for him to simply say that he cares about the people of this country. It is time for him to do something about getting those people that have been without work for 99 weeks back into the workforce. He is responsible for delivering on his promises and he must get all of the unemployed back into the employed category. The people of America in 2008 voted for change and they deserve change that is positive. We need to be gaining jobs every month instead of losing them. The economic situation has especially caused employers to ship their jobs to other countries in order to cut labor costs while there are fewer jobs that remain for the people of this country.

Millions of people in America have lost their life savings, their properties and their 401K money. These people deserve to have a better life than this. If America is truly a land of opportunity then the citizens of this country deserve to be working again and contributing to the economic well-being of this country. In a country such as the United States, no one should be unemployed. If we are going to set an example as a country that cares about its people then we have to prove this by putting together policies that will always create a surplus of jobs so that anyone that wants a job can have one. The United States is not Somalia. The United States is a well-developed nation that should provide their citizens with all the basic things that they require. Anyone no matter how old they are should have the right to work if they want a job. These people without jobs are human and they deserve to be treated better than they are being treated.

Why is Barack Obama talking about the economy and jobs now that we are approaching an election in 2012? He should have talked about this issue well before 2011. We have been in this situation since the end of 2007. Just talking about how to bring back the jobs and improving the economy will not get it done. It is the results that matter more than the talk. We cannot continue to have people losing their jobs and their homes. The people of America have suffered enough. They deserve to have better lives. Barack Obama was voted into office by the people of this country in 2008 and if the economy does not improve at least somewhat before 2012, Obama’s chances of re-election will be tough. The people of this country need jobs more than talk which does not deliver results. You can talk about doing something all that you want to, but if you do not deliver on your objectives and get results, the words don’t mean anything.

I know that Obama did not create this economic depression but it is his responsibility to make our lives better. His re-election chances depend a lot on whether he can bring back the jobs that this country has lost and he is running out of time. Mr. Obama has got to listen to the people of this country and he has got to address their needs. The people for whom he works have spoken already and he has got to understand their situation and take steps to improve their lives. If the economy in America does not improve, Obama may have to go back to Chicago instead of still being in Washington for another four years. He has got to deliver results. And he has until November 2012 to really make some positive changes for what the people of this country asked for. The people of this country asked for jobs and they deserve to have jobs, to get back to work and to make this country prosperous again.

It is time for Mr. Obama to stop talking about the fact that our citizens need jobs and to actually do something about creating jobs. He is the most powerful man in the country and he was elected to do one thing. And that one thing is to serve our people the way that they should be served. He did not create this economic mess but he has done little to make it better. I know that it will take time for the economy of the United States to improve but the American people have run out of patience with the president. He has got to deliver on the jobs promise or he could very likely see himself lose the 2012 election.
