Adriana Lima: A famous Brazilian Beauty

Adriana Lima is a name that is very famous in the modeling industry. In fact, she is one of the most famous supermodels in the world. Adriana has been a Victoria’s Secret model since the year 2000. She is also the wife of basketball player Marko Jaric. This famous Brazilian model was born on June 12, 1981 in Salvador, Bahia Brazil. Adriana stands at five feet and ten inches tall and she has brown hair to go along with her nice blue eyes.

Adriana had been a spokesperson for Maybelline Cosmetics from the year 2003 until 2009. While she was working for Maybelline, she was involved with print work. She appeared in that company’s very first calendar. It is amazing what Adriana has done in her life and she is only 30 years of age.

Entry into modeling

Adriana never originally planned to become a model in spite of the fact that she had been successful in many beauty contests during her elementary school years. The reason that she even decided to try modeling is because she had a friend at school that had aspirations of becoming a model. This friend did not want to enter the modeling competitions alone so Adriana decided to enter the contest with her. Both Adriana and her friend submitted photos and the person that was sponsoring the contest told Adriana to come for a tryout. In 1996 at the young age of 15, Adriana had a first place finish in a contest called Ford’s Supermodel of Brazil search. She followed that success with a finish in second place in Ford’s Supermodel of the World search.

In 1999, Adriana then moved to New York City and signed a contract with Elite Model Management. It was after signing that contract that Lima’s career started to get better and she ended up making appearances in several international editions of popular women’s magazines such as Vogue and Marie Claire. She has also been very successful financially. She was listed as the 5th highest paid supermodel in the world. In the years 2007 and 2008, she was listed as the fourth highest paid supermodel in the world; this was according to Forbes Magazine.

Adriana has also done work as a runway model because she has walked the catwalks for famous fashion designers like Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani. In the year 2008, Adriana made an appearance on the cover of Esquire Magazine. Of course, Adriana has become most well known for her work with Victoria’s Secret. She made her debut appearance with the company back in 1999 when she was at 18. In 2000, she became a permanent member of the Victoria’s Secret family. She has been appearing in fashion shows ever since that time. She was the first one to open the show in the years 2003, 2007, 2008 and 2010. If you have been watching the Victoria’s Secret fashion shows over the years, you have seen Adriana in these photo shoots every year. It is great that she has been given a chance to work with other famous supermodels such as Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum. I remember watching my first Victoria’s Secret Fashion show probably back in 1999 or 2000.

Personal Life and Talents

In addition to her success in modeling, Adriana speaks Portuguese which is her native language. She also speaks French, English and some Italian along with some Spanish. If you can speak up to 5 languages then you are successful and talented. Lima is a devoted Catholic and she attends church each Sunday. One interesting thing is that she actually takes a Bible with her so that she can read it while she is working. Adriana is also involved with doing charity work because she helps an orphanage called Ways of Light in English. She is involved with expanding the construction work to help improve the place and she also always buys clothes for the children who are so poor in her birthplace of Salvador Bahia. You can say that Adriana Lima is one of those special celebrities who do not just think about themselves. She also takes the time to help those who are in need of help.
